If you haven't lived with a very
old animal, you can't imagine the heartache. Your 12-year-old greyhound comes limping into the house, not putting
any weight on a leg. An injury is bad enough when they're young, it's horrible when they're not and it's double
if the dog is a foster - entrusted to your care.
A couple days ago Mamie returned to the back door on three legs. My heart sank. I gently took her leg and looked it over.
There it was ... wedged between two of her toes ... a tiny ... dried up ... leaf!!
I believed her! Man, I should've known better!! This isn't the first time she's lied to me, actually she does it a lot!
To add to the drama, she's a fawn. IMO the fawn dogs have the most heart-touching eyes.
I've met a lot of dogs, but the fawns can talk me into anything. And to top it off, Mamie has those ears! They're huge and they stand up. She looks sort of like Yoda.
Mark my words! Oh, who am I kidding? I'll fall for it next time, too!
